Expanding Waistlines and Good Scents

France has been so great! When we got to Eze, I said “Screw Italy!” And when we got to Gourdes, I said, “Screw Eze!” Each place we have gone has been so nice, we’re one upping ourselves right and left.

My post this morning is focused on things we have consumed. We’ve fully enjoyed every opportunity to sample, taste and sip. This morning I asked Corbett if we should skip a couple of desserts, since we have been bemoaning the fact that our pants barely fit. He said, “Well I wouldn’t go that far.” We will leave no pan au chocolat unturned.

We planned to eat at the restaurant in our hotel in Eze for one of our three nights. It is actually one of two Michelin starred restaurants in the tiny hill top village. It was one of the best meals of our lives! The ambience, service, and food were so great. I took pictures of everything… yes, I was that person.

Above was lobster with broth, cream, and spinach. The stand out for me!

Oh, did you think that was dessert? It was dessert prep. Meringue and chantilly cream.

So you see why we will need a full detox when we get home :). The pictures don’t do everything justice, and looking at amateur food pictures probably isn’t that great, but we wanted to record it for our memory banks.

The next day we wandered around Eze a little, heading down the hill toward the newer parts of the village. On the way down, there was a Fragonard perfumeries shop where we got a couple of things: I wanted the same diffuser that was in our room, and we got a couple of gifts. Heading further down the hill, we saw larger and larger Fragonard signs and deciphered the French to discover that the factory was *right* there. Surprise! So we headed in and an English-speaking tour was starting in two minutes.

For the last part of the tour, we were all sat down to sniff some stuff. This portion got a little salesy, but hey, what can you do when you are a tourist touring a touristy thing.

I loved that we just happened upon something interesting and somewhat educational on our stroll. After the tour was done it was time for another cappuccino at the little coffee truck at the base of the hill.

I think this means "The Cafe That Rolls."

Au Revoir! More on our travel day from Eze to Gourdes next…
