Elgato Ring Light with Ubiquiti

After my super cheap Neewer USB ring light had the stand break when collapsed in my bag (taken to a work event to try to use as a webcam tripod), I decided to replace it with a better tier of ring light. After Matt had good luck with some Elgato products for his desk (Stream Deck and the Key Light), I ordered an Elgato Ring Light.

After placing a separate order for the heavy Elgato accessory base (the desk clamp will not clamp to the profile of desk I have), I fired it up. The Elgato Control Center application saw a new accessory to pair with, correctly spotting the ring light. After picking my wifi network and entering my password..it tried to connect forever, eventually timing out. Retrying didn't change the result. I installed the Android version of the app on my phone and tried to set up the light that way, and it too was unable to get the light to connect to wifi.

Google came to the rescue: this Reddit thread mentioned the items which must be turned on in the Ubiquiti network configuration (I have a UDM Pro) for the Elgato wifi connectivity to work. After following these recommendations -- success!
